In a recent Physician survey done at various medical clinics where SecurIX
is used as a remote access solution, CLICK-into received very
favourable comments into the utilization of it's remote access connectivity
software SecurIX.
The survey was conducted in two full service community hospitals in Greater
Toronto Area - Together there are more than 300 general practitioners and 180
specialists providing care for a full range of health problems, from paediatric
to geriatric care. Both sites have 24-hour emergency departments.
Today, physicians access clinical browsers at the community hospitals without
having to leave their clinics or homes for that matter. A number of high users
of SecurIX Connectivity Platform remote access at the Rouge
Valley Health System were surveyed to assess the benefits of SecurIX
as it relates to the physicians practice. The physician practices are located
within the Rouge Valley Health System at Centenary Hospital and community
based. The practices reached were primarily specialty type, sub-specialty or
community based that was directly involved with Rouge Valley Health System.
All the physician practices were asked where they use SecurIX to access hospital
from.
For all of them the primary location is their office and secondary is home. All
the support staff at the practice uses it primarily from the office.
What activities do you mostly undertake when using SecurIX Connectivity
Platform?
All of them undertake following activities in order of rank
-
access patient laboratory records
-
access patient diagnostic results
-
access patient records
The support staff at each of the practices also undertakes the same activities
for the physicians.
All indicated that SecurIX Gateway has allowed them to access
information quicker from the hospital especially the laboratory reports and
diagnostic reports. This has helped them make better decisions and provide
better patient care.
One of the clinic staff member indicated that they get asked to access reports
of other physicians who do not presently have SecurIX access
in their practice.
Administration staff "Sometimes we get asked by the staff of other doctors to
look up results for them because they don't have access."

them to access necessary information.

that have been able to access information for the patients and have become more
effective and efficient.
-
For 20% of them it didn't seem to have made any difference. However, they felt
it might have made difference with the support staff since they access the
hospital too.
G.I. Specialist "this is a nice way to capture information quickly instead of
having to chase people on the phone or wait for the reports to arrive."
Same was emphasized by one of the clinic staff.
Clinic Staff, "It allows the staff to gather information of patients before hand
so that I don't have to look for it or ask for it when the patient is here.
This saves us time."
OB/GYN, "I can routinely check what patients of mine have been admitted for
delivery and I can also check their tests. From home I can also monitor the
progress of my patients as far delivery is concerned so that I can effectively
arrive at the hospital for delivery"
Has using SecurIX resulted in a cost benefit with respect to time saved?
-
70% of them agreed that it has definitely resulted in time saved not only for
them but also for the support staff. Over all they felt that it has had more
impact on the management of the practice more then anything else.
-
For 30% of them it did not make any difference. They didn't see it as a big
benefit.
Asked if SecurIX has allowed them better control of their patient's course
of therapies;
-
80% of them agreed that it has and does allow them better management and
control of patients' therapies and they are able to monitor it too.
-
20% of the physicians said that it didn't make any difference for them since
they always have been able to manage it effectively. However, one key point
they made was that if they had connection to the pharmacy then it may have been
a relevant question for them to ask.
